The Big Picture {She Reads Books Review: She Reads Truth & Winner Announced}
Hi Friends! If you are just tuning in to Everyday Truth, the first Wednesday of each month is "She Reads Books." Welcome.
Here at EDT, she is me (Steph). I love to read and if you do too, I pray this will be a helpful space for you. Without further ado...
In She Reads Truth, the one weary from the uncertainies and difficulties of life is invited to rest in a God who is permanent and unchanging.
The two memoirs are written as separate stories but really, like all of our stories, are simply two smaller parts of one big story- God's story. With every turn of a page, I was invited to fix my eyes on Jesus, and was reminded of His great faithfulness and amazing redemptive plan.
The authors graciously guide readers through many tensions that we have tried to simplify to either/or but they remain both/and. We are invited to embrace tensions like fear and faith, temporary and eternal, the details and the big picture, the infinite and the finite, God’s trustworthiness and our present difficulties, and how everything and nothing simultaneously matter.
"Sometimes it takes everything moving to notice the thing that doesn't move. Sometimes it takes telling two very different stories to notice how the Truth was exactly the same in both of them."
Any book has the potential to be a good book. But a powerful book, one that has you highlighting and talking incessantly about, is one that is well-timed.
She Reads Truth might be well-timed if you are:
discouraged by your permanent-feeling present
in need of a panoramic view of God's faithfulness
feeling fragile with fear
needing to know your temporary life has eternal significance
wanting to be reminded of the beauty and grace of the gospel
Onto the choose your own book giveaway...... The Google number randomizer chose #11 and the 11th entry counting up from the bottom is KELLY SMIT! I think the Google number randomizer and God must've thought it a tad funny and coincidental to choose the only one who selected She Reads Truth as her choice!
Let me know what you think in the comments! Any books you'd like me to review? I want She Reads Books to be RELEVANT to you my friends.
