Update on Mom
Thanks to all of you who are praying and asking how my mom is doing… here’s a quick update!
Praise— According to the surgeon, the lumpectomy on Friday went really well. We await pathology results on Thursday, October 24th. Pray for those results to be cancer free, continued peace as we wait, no infections to set in and quick healing!
Sadly, she didn’t have the energy to join for Thanksgiving dinner at the O’Briens, but thankfully Emily and her husband (also Mike) who came up from Lethbridge to stay with her and take care of her, were able to join us and bring her some leftovers. She of course loved having them there, and when it came time to go home on Monday, it was a bit hard and sad.
Praise— The pain from the surgery is slowly but surely decreasing a bit each day, and her energy is slowly but surely increasing. She’s been able to go for some walks and do her light exercises. She’s still in recovery mode and not yet taking visitors.
Pray— Rest is still difficult and sleep is a bit elusive with the discomfort from the surgery— please continue to pray for sleep. Rest is needed for healing!
Pray— This feels extra difficult is because my dad’s not there to take care of her. It was hard for Emily to go home, it’s hard for Ang to be feeling far away, hard for me to be leaving town on Thursday, and for Christina to be working when all of us want to be with her and take care of her. Pray for the tangible presence of God to carry her through this time.
Praise— Mom’s church has been providing meals every other day for the past week. (Thank you to her Connect family!)
Praise— someone has generously offered to pay for a month of parking at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre when she begins radiation! God always provides.
Thank you for praising and praying with you. God is good and this feels hard. We are learning how to wrestle well within that tension!
